This year, Eastman Companies proudly celebrates its 30th anniversary and its current position as one of New Jersey's most prominent mid-size commercial, community-oriented real estate organizations.
Eastman is actively engaged in redeveloping a handful of unique projects. 83 Hanover Road, recently renamed as Florham Park Medical Center, Eisenhower Corporate Campus, Livingston Town Center and a mixed-use project in Franklin Township, New Jersey.
Since its auspicious start in 1978, the Eastman name has been synonymous with quality development, professional and caring management operations, an unrelenting effort to acquire and improve its various commercial properties, and a continuing involvement in fund-raising for local philanthropies and fostering cultural causes. Eastman Companies presently owns, manages and has developed commercial, retail and/or industrial properties in Essex, Morris, Bergen and Burlington Counties.
The force behind Eastman Companies' start-up operations and its ultimate emergence as an important factor in the commercial real restate business was its founder, Marvin Schofel, a consummate professional who had a vision of what his company might be someday and the creative capacity to build on his faith. It wasn't long before Michael and Peter Schofel, second generation Schofel siblings, assumed the company's reins, and guided the company to its present position as one of the more successful operations of its kind in the Garden State. The brothers benefited from their hard work and dedication as well as hands-on experience over the course of many years in the industry; as a result, they were more than ready to seamlessly continue the work that Marvin Schofel had begun in 1978.
Thanks to the leadership of Michael and Peter Schofel and an experienced Management Team comprised of Roger Stachler, Development Manager and Eric Maurer, Director of Leasing, Eastman Companies has earned more than its share of accolades over the years, including Business of the Year by the Livingston Chamber of Commerce, Developer of the Year NAIOP, BOMA’s TOBY Award for Building of the Year in NJ on two occasions: once for Eisenhower Corporate Campus, the 380,000 Class A facility in Livingston, and again for 83 Hanover Road, the 55,000 square foot office building in Hanover.
Eastman's participation in the development of Livingston Town Center also won plaudits for the company, both for its concern for redeveloping and helping to breathe new life into a suburban downtown area and for its participation in the state's Smart Growth land-use planning that targets New Jersey's resources and funding to enhance the quality of life for the state's residents. Partnering with two well-known developers, Eastman Companies developed 70,000 square feet of retail and professional office space, 114 luxury homes and an indoor parking garage. Eastman also construction the commercial component all designed in the Federal-style architecture. Eastman's credo, "Building Better Places," has never been evidenced so dramatically as in Livingston Town Center.
